NYC Grassroots Book Drop www.followdinopath.com

Successful book "sale"...okay, give away

Extended my stay in NYC to try a grassroots book tour.  My husband came along, and leaned in to help get Following the Path of the Dinosaurs, A Childhood Saved From Extinction, into the hands of willing takers...readers!

We started with the airport, leaving books at the gates, on the airplane...and upped our game once we arrived in NYC, canvasing Times Square, offering folks a free book.  A few said yes, but I was surprised (and suffered a severe bruise...to my ego) to have so many say no to a free give away.  Oprah never had that problem when she shared her favorite things :)  Okay, clearly I'm not Oprah.  But I wrote this book when she still aired at 4 p.m. every day and I dreamed of the day she would pick my book for her Book of the Month Club.

Well, I was late publishing...waiting about twenty years before figuring out that Amazon does absolutely everything, including a cheap and easy way to self publish.  I missed her daytime talk gig, but she will always be that inspirational person I wanted to read my story...because every day at 4 p.m., she found a way to make stuff better, make me cry in a good way, and shine a light on things that mattered most.

But I digress...check out a few pics from my book drop last week in the Big Apple..."If I can make it there...." Well, you know the rest.  It was fun and I'm not giving up.  And if you happen to be in NYC and see a book lying randomly on a table, PLEASE don't send it back to me...pass it along!!
